The mercurial Portuguese winger wore the captain’s armband in place of Davide Calabria, and his goal in the eighth minute was all that was required to seal the winner, bouncing back after the Rossoneri lost 5-1 in the Derby della Madonnina to Inter in the previous round.
This result temporarily takes Milan to 12 points with the Nerazzurri at the top of the Serie A table whereas Hellas Verona drop to sixth place with three other clubs.
