STADIO SAN SIRO (Milan): Rafael Leao was at his superb best on Saturday evening as he scored twice to lead AC Milan to a 3-2 Milan Derby win over Inter in Serie A. Olivier Giroud got the Rossoneri’s other goal, helping them to come from behind to Marcelo Brozovic’s opener. Edin Dzeko scored Inter’s second.

Total Italian Football’s Conor Clancy reports from the Stadio San Siro after AC Milan beat Inter 3-2 in the Milan Derby in Serie A Matchday 5.

Milan were on top from the off in this Matchday 5 fixture, and they had chances to take the lead long before Inter ever got near Mike Maignan’s goal. Charles De Ketelaere, though, was lacking the belief to go alone when he had an early opening.

Brozovic then had a glaring chance of his own but missed, though he made amends shortly after. Starting with Samir Handanovic, Inter worked their way from back to front, with no more than four or five passes right up the central channel of the pitch carving the champions’ defence open and setting Brozovic through to open the scoring.

Another AC Milan comeback against Inter

But Milan don’t know when they’re beaten. it was true last season and it seems to be true again, particularly against their Derby della Madonnina rivals. Ex-Rossonero Hakan Calhanoglu lent a helping hand this time though.

The Turk, under little pressure, played a blind ball into the middle and right to Sandro Tonali. From there, he drove towards the box and slipped Rafael Leao in on the left to finish excellently past Handanovic.

Not long into the second half, Milan led through Olivier Giroud, but the best was yet to come.

On the hour mark Leao left Inter’s backline terrorised as he surfed his way through them all as though he were riding the least intimidating of waves, and from just to the left of Handanovic’s goal he opened up his body and passed into the far corner.

Dzeko came off the bench and pulled one back for Inter. Simone Inzaghi’s side pressed for a leveller but it didn’t come, allowing Milan to celebrate another win over the Nerazzurri and overtake them onto 11 points, with Inter sat on nine.
