Serie A leaders AC Milan welcome injury hit Juventus to the Stadio San Siro on Matchday 9, looking to maintain their lead over bitter rivals Inter.


After taking advantage of bitter rivals Inter dropping points against Bologna and moving to the top of the table, AC Milan have the opportunity to extend the gap between themselves and another Scudetto challenger when Juventus visit the Stadio San Siro on Matchday 9 of the 2023/24 Serie A campaign.

The Bianconeri are unbeaten in three games and sitting in third place just two points behind the Nerazzurri and four off the Rossoneri, but the Serie A leaders are in even better form, having won each of their last four domestic fixtures. However, it took a late goal from Christian Pulisic and heroics from stand-in goalkeeper Olivier Giroud to defeat Genoa 1-0 on Matchday 8.

AC Milan vs Juventus: Predicted line-ups

Although striker Giroud temporarily replaced Mike Maignan in the Milan goal after his sending off against Grifone, they will call on orthodox goalkeeper Marco Sportiello to face the Bianconeri, and face the Turin giants with bigger absentee. A yellow card for rampaging full-back Theo Hernandez brought a suspension for the Frenchman and winger turned right-back Alessandro Florenzi is expected to deputise.

However, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has even bigger selection concerns for the trip to Milan. Paul Pogba remains out because of a positive doping test and Nicolo Fagioli starts a seven month ban for breaching of betting regulations, and the Old Lady have several injury worries.

Defender Danilo returned home early after picking up an injury on international duty with Brazil and compatriot Alex Sandro will be out for even longer, and at the other end of the pitch there will be fitness assessments on influential duo Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa ahead of the game.
