AC Milan transfers: Rossoneri considering moves for PSG and Chelsea strikers

AC Milan are in the market for support for striker Olivier Giroud, and could make an approach for Paris Saint-Germain's Hugo Ekitike or Armando Broja of Chelsea.

AC Milan are weighing up a late approach for a new striker ahead of the upcoming 2023/34 Serie A season, and may turn to Paris Saint-Germain‘s Hugo Ekitike or Chelsea forward Armando Broja.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri are looking for an alternative to Divock Origi following his disappointing maiden season last term, and require a striker to ease the burden on 36-year-old Olivier Giroud.

New signings Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze are being considered as wide-forwards, leaving the Diavolo light in the middle of their attack.

Whilst academy prospect Lorenzo Colombo has impressed in preseason, the 21-year-old is expected to be shipped out on loan to gain regular first team experience, amidst interest from Cagliari and Genoa, so Milan remain in the market for a centre-forward.

Ekitike set for PSG exit

Milan are yet to open up negotiations but have been closely monitoring Ekitike‘s situation at PSG. The Frenchman was on Milan‘s radar prior to moving to Paris from Stade Reims last summer and is no longer a part of coach Luis Enrique‘s plans.

Despite featuring as a late substitute in PSG‘s goalless draw against Lorient in their Ligue 1 opener, Ekitike does not have a long-term future at the club and even the impending departure of Neymar to Al Ahli will not open up a space for him.

Milan are seeking information as to whether the France U-20 international would be available on loan, as the €20 million price tag PSG have set is beyond the Rossoneri’s financial capabilities unless sales are made.

The situation is evolving, however, and Ekitike may become available on loan later in the transfer window should PSG make progress with their own incoming transfers.

Chelsea striker Broja an option

Another option that Milan are exploring is Chelsea‘s Broja, with the Albania international made available for loan amidst a heavy summer of spending at Stamford Bridge.

However, the former Southampton loanee has only just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines following a serious knee injury sustained in December, and Milan are wary of taking a risk on a player who is still in the process of finding full fitness.

There is also competition from other clubs in the Premier League for the 21-year-old, but Milan‘s strong relationship with Chelsea could make negotiations smoother for the Italian club. Indeed, the Diavolo have already brought in Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the West Londoners, so it is hoped that a third deal could be thrashed out relatively quickly.

Broja scored once in 12 league games for Chelsea last season prior to his injury, and netted nine times in 32 matches across all competitions whilst at Southampton in 2021/22. Chelsea may still decide to keep Broja at the club to avoid needing to buy a new striker themselves.
