AS Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen: Preview, kick-off time and where to watch on TV and online – Europa League 2023/24

AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen meet in the Europa League semi-final for the second consecutive campaign, as the Serie A club look to inflict a first defeat on the Bundesliga champions this season.

AS Roma are looking to move a step closer to the Europa League final when they take on newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg of their semi-final.

The Giallorossi impressively overcame Serie A rivals AC Milan in the last round and are full of confidence under coach Daniele De Rossi, as they seek a third consecutive European final appearance.

Leverkusen are enjoying an historic season under Xabi Alonso, having sealed their first ever domestic league title, and remain unbeaten in all competitions as they close in on an invincible campaign.

AS Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen: Predicted line-ups

Roma hope to have striker Romelu Lukaku available again after a minor injury, and the Belgian may lead the line in attack alongside Stephan El Shaarawy and star man Paulo Dybala.

Midfielder Bryan Cristante returns from suspension and is set to join Leandro Paredes and Lorenzo Pellegrini in a three-man midfield. With Chris Smalling out injured, Evan Ndicka and Gianluca Mancini are set to be the expected defensive pairing. Mehmet Zeki Celik serves a ban after his red card against Milan last time out.

Leverkusen are unlikely to be able to call upon forwards Adam Hlozek and Borja Iglesias through injury, whilst defender Jonathan Tah faces a late fitness test.

Former Roma striker Patrik Schick is only expected to find a place on the bench upon his return to the Olimpico, with Victor Boniface leading the line for Leverkusen.

Giallorossi quintet Mancini, Dean Huijsen, Paredes, Sardar Azmoun, and Lukaku are all at risk of suspension for the second leg with a booking. Meanwhile, Leverkusen pair Edmond Tapsoba and Robert Endrich must also tread carefully.

AS Roma predicted XI vs Bayer Leverkusen (4-3-3): Svilar; Karsdorp, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini; Dybala, Lukaku, El Shaarawy.

Bayer Leverkusen predicted XI vs AS Roma (3-4-2-1): Kovar; Kossounou, Tapsoba, Hincapie; Stanisic, Palacios, Xhaka, Grimaldo; Tella, Wirtz; Boniface.
