AS Roma are hoping to continue their positive start under new coach Daniele De Rossi when they welcome relegation-threatened Cagliari to the Stadio Olimpico in Matchday 23 of Serie A.

The Giallorossi have won both matches since De Rossi replaced Jose Mourinho and have moved back to within touching distance of the Champions League qualification places.

Cagliari, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone but a victory in the capital could see them move into safety.

AS Roma vs Cagliari: Predicted line-ups

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, De Rossi will retain Stephan El Shaarawy in attack alongside Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.

Midfielders Leandro Paredes and Houssem Aouar return after suspension and AFCON duty respectively, but Roma may continue with Lorenzo Pellegrini, Bryan Cristante and Edoardo Bove in the middle.

Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling remain out with injury and Leonardo Spinazzola faces a fitness test, whilst Evan Ndicka and Sardar Azmoun are on international duty. New signing Angelino could be in line for a debut.

Cagliari must do without injured trio Marko RogMarco Mancosu and Gaetano Oristanio, whilst striker Eldor Shomurodov is unlikely to return to fitness in time to start against his former club. Angola international winger Zito Lovumbo is on AFCON duty and will be unavailable for selection.

Roma duo Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen are one booking away from suspension, whilst Cagliari striker Leonardo Pavoletti is also at risk of a ban.

AS Roma predicted XI vs Cagliari (4-3-3): Rui Patricio; Karsdorp, Mancini, Llorente, Kristensen; Bove, Cristante, Pellegrini; Dybala, Lukaku, El Shaarawy.

Cagliari predicted XI vs AS Roma (4-3-2-1): Scuffet; Zappa, Dossena, Wieteska, Azzi; Makoumbou, Prati, Sulemana; Nandez, Viola; Pavoletti.
