AS Roma 2-1 Lecce: Goals, highlights, and report – Serie A 2023/24

AS Roma did not impress against Lecce on Serie A Matchday 11 but two stoppage-time goals meant that it was three points for Jose Mourinho's side.

AS Roma fans at the Stadio Olimpico were treated to a thrilling finale on Serie A Matchday 11 as the Giallorossi scored twice in stoppage time to beat Lecce 2-1 despite a poor performance.

Roma could have taken the lead early on after the home side were given a penalty. However, much to the Giallorossi’s despair, Romelu Lukaku’s tame effort was saved by Wladimiro Falcone.

Lecce went from strength to strength after that and after Pontus Almqvist’s goal, the Salentini looked set for their first victory in six games. However, a late double from Sardar Azmoun and Romelu Lukaku turned the Lupi’s fortunes around.

The win lifts Roma ahead of rivals Lazio and into eighth place, whilst Lecce‘s downturn in form continues and they are in 11th.
