AS Roma‘s Women’s Champions League progression hopes took a big blow on Matchday 4 of the group stage as they fell to a second consecutive defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at the Stadio Tre Fontane in the capital.
A familiar thorn in the side of Italian clubs returned to give the Giallorosse problems as Tabitha Chawinga, formerly of Inter, opened the scoring with a poked effort past Camelia Ceasar. Chawinga then set off on one of her typically meandering and unstoppable runs to assist Marie-Antoinette Katoto for the French side’s second.
Korbin Albert added a third for the visitors before Manuela Giugliano curled in a freekick to cut the deficit back to two goals.
Roma now, having started the Women’s Champions League group well with two positive results, sit bottom after four matchdays on four points. Ajax are top with seven points, PSG are second with six, and Bayern Munich are third with five points.
