AS Roma have done it again. Alessandro Spugna‘s side have won their second-ever and second-straight Women’s Serie A title this Friday, April 26, with Inter‘s 2-0 win away at Juventus. The Giallorosse have been crowned Italian champions with four matches to spare and without taking to the pitch themselves this weekend.

Roma, then, will return to action in midweek away at Sassuolo as champions thanks to Inter beating Juventus for the first time in the Women’s Serie A.

Having missed the first chance to wrap things up a week earlier when they were held to a goalless draw by Fiorentina at Viola Park, Roma were able to get over the line as second-placed Juventus slipped up at home to Inter just a few days later. The Bianconere’s failure to beat the Nerazzurre means that Roma were crowned Italian champions on their Poule Scudetto rest week, and so without even taking to the field over the weekend.

The Giallorosse have been, by a distance, the best team in Italy again in 2023/24, losing just one of their 22 games before being mathematically crowned as Women’s Serie A champions.

With both Roma and Juventus having enjoyed strong starts to the season, the Giallorosse’s statement 3-1 win away to Juventus in Biella on Matchday 6 sent out early warning signs that they were very much the team to beat again this term. Although the Bianconere would then go on to pip the Giallorosse to the Supercoppa Italiana in Cremona in January, Roma then beat their nearest title contenders again in Rome in February and in mid-April to all but confirm the title would be staying in the Eternal City.

Roma will now be focusing on doing a domestic double with the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina in Cesena to come at the end of May.
