Atalanta booked their place in the Europa League final with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Olympique de Marseille, and will meet Bayer Leverkusen after they eliminated AS Roma.

Boosted by a 1-1 draw in France in the first leg of their semi-final, La Dea were far too good for Marseille and went ahead through Ademola Lookman‘s effort on the half-hour mark.

Matteo Ruggeri extended that lead early in the second half, before El Bilal Toure struck in stoppage time to seal a 4-1 aggregate win, ensuring Atalanta reached a first European final in their history.

Paredes penalties not enough for Roma

Meanwhile, fellow Serie A club Roma suffered heartbreak in Germany as they were pegged back from two goals up to draw 2-2 against Leverkusen, crashing out with a 4-2 aggregate defeat at the BayArena.

Looking to make amends for a dismal first leg display against the newly crowned Bundesliga champions, Roma rode their luck in the first half and had Mile Svilar to thank for a series of fine saves, but halved the aggregate deficit through Leandro Paredes‘ penalty.

The Argentina international again struck from the spot in the second half to draw the Giallorossi level and threaten to become the first team to inflict a defeat on Leverkusen all season.

However, with just 10 minutes remaining a Svilar blunder led to Gianluca Mancini turning the ball into his own net, and as Roma chased a leveller the hosts maintained their invincible run with a 97th minute equaliser from substitute Josip Stanisic.
