Cagliari 4-3 Frosinone: Goals, highlights and report – Serie A 2023/24

One of the most exciting games of the 2023/24 Serie A season unfolded on Matchday 10, with Cagliari remarkably coming from 3-0 down with 20 minutes to play to win 4-3 over Frosinone.

What will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the very best games of the 2023/24 Serie A season took place on Matchday 10 as Cagliari completed an astonishing comeback to win 4-3 over Frosinone, despite having been 3-0 down until as late as the 72nd minute.

In what was a game between two newly-promoted sides enjoying very different fortunes in the opening weeks of the season, Frosinone looked set to continue their bright start to the campaign and led 2-0 at half time thanks to a brace from Juventus loanee Matias Soule. Marco Brescianini made it 3-0 after the break and Casteddu looked dead and buried.

But if Cagliari taught us anything during their promotion push and successful navigation of last season’s Serie B playoffs, it’s that they never know when they are beaten. Despite having missed a penalty earlier, the Rossoblu kept battling and two goals in the space of four minutes from Gaetano Oristanio and Antoine Makoumbou saw them go within a goal of a point. Leonardo Pavoletti dramatically levelled in the 92nd minute, and he then scored again in the 96th to seal a breathtaking win.

The win took Cagliari off bottom place and into 19th, with it being their first victory of the season. Frosinone sit 12th.
