Fabio Capello has urged former club Juventus to look beyond Marseille‘s Arkadiusz Milik in their hunt for a new striker.
The Bianconeri have been linked with the ex-Napoli attacker as they look to bolster their options in Serie A, but the Milik has not convinced Capello, with the tactician suggesting that Juventus could do better.
“There are not many classic centre-forwards around and they are difficult to find,” Capello declared in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“We need a player with more quality and I hear links with Milik, but he is not someone who can make a difference.
“It’s not what the fans dream of at Juventus, he is a good player and can be useful to the squad but nothing more than that,” the former AC Milan, Roma, and England coach added.
Milik’s impressive Marseille record
Despite Capello’s misgivings, Milik has enjoyed a prolific spell in Ligue 1 since arriving at Marseille from Napoli in January 2021, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
The Poland international struck 10 times in 16 appearances in the second half of that campaign, before registering 20 goals in 37 games last season, at an average of one goal every 116 minutes.
This is diminished somewhat by the fact that only seven of those goals came in the league, but nonetheless Milik has netted a commendable 30 goals in 55 appearances for Marseille since making the switch to France.
