Champions League final at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza: Tickets selling fast for Inter vs Manchester City in Milan

With relatively few Inter fans able to attend the Champions League final in Istanbul due to UEFA's ticket allocation, the club have decided to open up the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for supporters to come together for the game.

With only a very limited few fortunate Inter and Manchester City fans being able to get their hands on tickets for the Champions League final in Istanbul on Saturday evening, fans of both sides have been left seeking alternative options to take in the game. Following the lead of Napoli and AS Roma previously, the Nerazzurri have officially announced that they will be opening the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for the occasion.

Napoli opened the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and boasted a sellout crowd watching on in Campania as they won their first Serie A title in 33 years away at Udinese, while Roma fans had contrasting fortunes as they packed out the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to watch Jose Mourinho’s Giallorossi fall short and lose the Europa League final to Sevilla on penalties.

The hierarchy at Inter have been working on securing approval to show the Champions League final at the Stadio Meazza ever since they beat Derby della Madonnina rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals. They have finally been given the green light to host the event after some initial safety concerns.

Champions League final tickets… in Milan

The Champions League final will be held in the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday, June 10. Despite the arena having a capacity of just over 75,000, Manchester City and Inter have only been given around 20,000 tickets each.

So, Inter have decided to open the Meazza to 40,000 fans to cheer the team on to what they hope will be their fourth European Cup success.

The giant screens will show a live feed from the Ataturk Stadium showing the build-up to the game. Tickets have already been on sale since Tuesday and have been selling fast.

Inter season-ticket holders and members received priority and then sales opened to the general public. The prices are split into three tiers, those being €20, €14 and €10.

Nerazzurri fans will be able to sit in the red, green and blue sectors as well as on the pitch.

The gates will open at 19.00 CEST and their will also be pre-match entertainment. The Giuseppe Meazza will be a sea of Black and Blue on Saturday night cheering their team on from over 2000km away hoping their heroes come home with the trophy.
