Inter are growing increasingly concerned with the form of wingback Denzel Dumfries as they look to cash in on the Netherlands international at the end of the season, amidst interest from the Premier League.
As reported by CalcioMercato, the Nerazzurri have accepted the necessity of moving players on in the summer to raise much-needed funds, as they face difficulties in balancing their books, and had identified Dumfries as an ideal candidate for an outgoing transfer.
After an excellent 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar, Inter had hoped to take advantage of Dumfries‘ string of eye-catching displays and secure at least €40 million for him, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United linked with a move.

Dumfries dip in form sees value drop
However, the former Heerenveen man has suffered woeful form since returning to domestic duties in January, with his place in Simone Inzaghi‘s Inter team far from certain and Matteo Darmian often preferred on the right flank.
The 26-year-old has posed little attacking threat for the Nerazzurri this season, with CalcioMercato highlighting his poor crossing ability and failure to make the right decision with his final ball, whilst his defensive work has often left much to be desired.
Nonetheless, Dumfries has shown great pace and an ability to find space out wide, whilst his career at Inter since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2021 for €12 million has been characterised by numerous peaks and troughs in form.
It has led the hierarchy at the club to fear that his latest dip could scupper any hopes of earning a significant fee for him, with his value reduced compared to before the turn of the year.

Inter turn to Buchanan
Whilst Dumfries‘ future appears destined to be away from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Inter have already lined up a replacement in the form of Club Brugges‘ Tajon Buchanan.
The Canada international has impressed in the Belgian top flight and in the Champions League this season, with Inter director Piero Ausilio sending scouts to monitor him last month.
However, a deal for him could prove difficult as his transfer valuation continues to rise, in stark contrast to that of Dumfries.
