Empoli vs Juventus: Preview, kick-off time and where to watch on TV and online – Serie A 2023/24

After a disappointing draw last time out, Massimiliano Allegri and Juventus will want to get back to winning ways as they are back on the road to face Empoli on Matchday 3 of this Serie A season.

Juventus will travel to the Stadio Carlo Castellani in Tuscany to face a struggling Empoli side on Matchday 3 of Serie A fixtures, and this is a great opportunity for the Bianconeri to bounce back after their draw against Bologna last time out.

The Old Lady had opened their 2023/24 campaign with a win away to Udinese, but they followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Bologna. Lewis Ferguson gave the Rossoblu the lead, but Dusan Vlahovic scored his second goal in as many games to rescue a point for the Italian giants.

It has been a poor start to the season for the Azzurri though, suffering defeats to Hellas Verona and Monza, and failing to score in both games. The Tuscan club are still adapting without Guglielmo Vicario, who joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, but it is evident that they lack quality up front and not just assurance in goal.

Although Juventus are the better squad on paper, Empoli have surprised the Bianconeri in recent seasons, smashing the Old Lady 4-1 at home last season, and winning 1-0 in Turin in 2021/22. An Azzurri victory might seem unlikely, but Juve cannot underestimate the Tuscans at any cost.

Empoli vs Juventus: Predicted line-ups

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is likely to integrate Weston McKennie back into the starting line-up after he came off the bench against Bologna, and he will probably start ahead of either Fabio Miretti or Nicolo Fagioli. Mattia De Sciglio remains a long-term casualty whereas Wojciech Szczesny is a doubt for the match.

Meanwhile, Empoli tactician Paolo Zanetti is expected just to make one change despite not earning a point in the opening rounds, with Alberto Grassi being tipped to play beside Razvan Marin in midfield in place of Nicholas Haas. Goalkeeper Elia Caprile is out with an ankle injury while Daniel Maldini is not guaranteed to feature.

Empoli predicted XI vs Juventus (4-2-3-1): Perisan; Ebuehi, Ismajli, Luperto, Cacace; Grassi, Marin; Cancellieri, Baldanzi, Gyasi; Caputo

Juventus predicted XI vs Empoli (3-5-2): Perin; Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Weah, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso; Chiesa, Vlahovic.
