The Italy Men’s National Team were unceremoniously dumped out of the 2024 European Championship on Saturday evening after losing 2-0 against Switzerland in Berlin.

Luciano Spalletti made yet another change of shape for the Round of 16, opting for a 4-3-3, and made a raft of personnel changes from the Croatia match.

The Azzurri failed to show up from the first whistle and Remo Freuler‘s opener towards the end of the first half came much later than it could have done.

The second half then began disastrously as Switzerland scored after 27 seconds after Italy gave the ball away immediately from their own kick-off. From there, it was clear that the holders were heading home.
