Feyenoord 3-1 Lazio: Goals, highlights and report – Champions League 2023/24

Lazio suffered their first Champions League defeat of the season as they were easily beaten by Feyenoord, with Santiago Gimenez scoring twice.

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio side could not muster up any more late drama as Feyenoord beat Lazio 3-1 on Matchday 3 in Champions League Group E.

Santiago Gimenez opened the scoring for the Dutch outfit in the 30th minute with a great finish – three minutes after his first goal was marginally ruled offside. Arne Slot’s side scored again on the stroke of halftime through Ramiz Zerrouki from the edge of the box, with the Biancolesti failing to pick up the free man.

Feyenoord’s third again came from the Mexican striker. After a great save from Ivan Provedel, an unmarked Gimenez tapped the ball home. Pedro scored from the penalty spot in the 81st minute, though it was nothing more than a consolation for Sarri’s men.

In a game where Lazio could’ve really solidified their chances of progressing in the group, the result and the performance will be looked back at as hugely disappointing. The Aquile made it difficult for themselves from the start.
