No change for Italy in men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings

Despite failing to qualify for a second straight World Cup, European champions Italy still sit seventh in the men's FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings.

The men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings have been updated this August but there has been no change in position for Italy or any of the other top-ranked sides. Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri remain in the top 10 despite their failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup – the second consecutive World Cup they have missed out on.

Where are Italy in the men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings?

Italy, as European champions after winning Euro 2020 by beating England on penalties at Wembley last summer, find themselves in seventh place in the rankings with 1713.86 points. Ahead of the Azzurri are Spain in sixth, while Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark are still trailing Mancini’s side.

8Netherlands1679.41
9Portugal1678.65

The men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings top 10 remains unchanged. In fact, no teams in the top 20 of the men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings have changed places this time around, meaning Brazil still lead the way over Belgium and Argentina at the very top.

Curiously, the top 10 is dominated by European teams with eight of the 10 sides being European. Brazil and Argentina are the only two non-European sides in the top 10, and they boast two of the three podium positions. Argentina, as South American champions, sit third and Brazil are leading the way.

Who won the 2018 World Cup?

The last edition of the FIFA World Cup was won by France, and played in Russia in 2018. Curiously though, France find themselves behind Brazil, Belgium and Argentina in fourth place in the men’s FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings.

Who won the 2020 European Championship?

The 2020 European Championship was won by Italy, although the Azzurri failed to then go on and qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Euro 2020 was played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic delaying it, and Roberto Mancini led his side to success by overcoming England in the final at Wembley, London. They won the game on penalties.
