Inter vs Napoli: Preview, kick-off time and where to watch on TV and online – Serie A 2023/24

Inter and Napoli were both knocked out of the Champions League in midweek so the two sides are seeking a return to winning ways on Serie A Matchday 29.

Following their disappointing Champions League exits in midweek, Inter will welcome Napoli to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday for Serie A Matchday 29’s headline fixture.

As much as their elimination from the Champions League will hurt the Nerazzurri, they are firmly on track to complete their primary aim this season – winning the Scudetto. Whilst Sunday’s opponents have not put up the best defence of their title, they have the occasional good performance and Simone Inzaghi will be demanding his side to return to their best with a victory.

Since Francesco Calzona was appointed as Napoli’s manager, there has been an upturn in their fortunes with the Azzurri winning two of the last three in Serie A. Whilst they beat Juventus recently, they will need to show their best against their likely Scudetto successors if they are to get back into the European spots.

Inter vs Napoli: Predicted line-ups

After a gruelling 120 minutes of football against Atletico Madrid in midweek, there are likely to be some changes for Inter. Firstly, Alessandro Bastoni is due to be the only defender to start both games, with Stefan de Vrij and Benjamin Pavard set to move to the bench. Francesco Acerbi and Yann Bisseck are set to take their places.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely to be on the bench, with Inzaghi preferring to offer Davide Frattesi his first start since the Nerazzurri’s win against Lecce.

Napoli also played in midweek against Barcelona, but Calzona is not expected to make many changes. The only suspended player is Mario Rui, who will be replaced by Mathias Olivera.

Inter predicted XI vs Napoli (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Barella, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.

Napoli predicted XI vs Inter (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Juan Jesus, Olivera; Anguissa, Lobotka, Traore; Politano, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia.
