Inter transfer wish list: Tottenham’s Emerson and Scalvini of Atalanta top the list

With Dumfries and De Vrij expected to depart Inter at the end of the season, the Nerazzurri are already planning for signings to come in at the back.

Emerson Royal of Tottenham and Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini have been linked with transfers to Inter after the conclusion of the 2022/23 campaign as the Nerazzurri look to bolster their defence.

With Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries expected to be sold and his compatriot Stefan de Vrij‘s contract with the Biscione expiring at the end of June 2023, Inter are already assessing players that would best fit the system implemented by coach Simone Inzaghi.

Dumfries has played a starring role for the Oranje at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring once and supplying two assists in four matches so far, and TuttoMercatoWeb reports that Inter could sell him to Chelsea for a figure no less than €40 million.

Emerson to be direct replacement for Dumfries for Inter

In the likely event that Dumfries is sold in the summer, the Nerazzurri want to replace him with 23-year-old Brazil international Emerson Royal, who is currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.

Although he has become a regular feature in the Spurs team under Italian coach Antonio Conte, his future is not guaranteed at the North London club and he may consider a move elsewhere.

However, Inter are still assessing how the potential move can come to fruition and how much Tottenham want to sell him for.

Eighteen-year-old centre-back Giorgio Scalvini is one of the hottest young talents in Italian football. Not only has he been thriving under the tutelage of Atalanta tactician Gian Piero Gasperini, but Scalvini has also already earned the trust of Italy coach Roberto Mancini and he has earned three senior caps.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been impressed with the Italian starlet’s ability to play in defence as well as midfield, and directors Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio already consider the Atalanta player to be high on their priority list.

With De Vrij not committed to signing a new contract as yet and Milan Skriniar having been linked to Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in recent years, Scalvini might not just be a reinforcement for 2023/24, but also for the years to come.
