The tragic death of Antonio Scotto Di Luzio has overshadowed Napoli's 2-2 draw against AC Milan in Serie A, with the 42-year-old falling to his death whilst attempting to get into the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli‘s thrilling 2-2 draw against AC Milan in Matchday 10 of Serie A has been overshadowed by the grim discovery of a body within the grounds of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the lifeless body of 42-year-old Antonio Scotto Di Luzio was found in a tunnel near the away stand of the stadium in the early hours of the morning of Monday, October 30, following the match the previous evening.

Scotto Di Luzio, a resident of the Bacoli area of Naples, was spotted at around 2am in the Claudio underground passageway beneath an abandoned car park at the stadium.

Early signs suggest that Scotto Di Luzio fell 20 metres to his death and a police investigation has now been opened, with a report from the forensics team thought to be imminent.

Meanwhile, a friend of the victim has revealed that they had attempted to enter the Maradona without a ticket for the match, and had sought to get through by taking the passageway.

Upon seeing that there was a wall to scale, the friend reportedly gave up and turned back, whilst Scotto Di Luzio continued on and ultimately fell to his death.

However, investigators are refusing to rule out further possibilities and the case remains open as they seek further details into the tragedy.

On the pitch, Napoli fought back from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw against the Rossoneri, but attention has now switched to the safety measures in place around the stadium.

The Partenopei’s next home game is on Wednesday, November 8, as they welcome Union Berlin in the Champions League, and there is expected to be increased scrutiny on safely preventing fans without tickets from entering.
