Juventus got their season off to the perfect start by beating Sassuolo 3-0 at the Allianz Stadium on Monday night.
The Bianconeri took the lead through Angel Di Maria who got a debut goal and then two goals from Dusan Vlahovic either side of half time put the gloss on the result for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Vlahovic bags a brace
After a very even start to the game in which Mattia Perin was marginally the busier goalkeeper, it was Juve who were in front.
A high cross into the box was volleyed into the ground by Di Maria and the ball looped over Andrea Consigli and into the net to make it 1-0 after 26 minutes.
The lead was doubled just before halftime when Kaan Ayhan brought Vlahovic down in the box. The Serbian then converted the penalty calmly.
Six minutes into the second half, Vlahovic had his second. The ball was given away from a goal kick and Di Maria put it on a plate for Vlahovic in the box who finished calmly again.
The second half was seen out calmly by the Old Lady as the fans also got a chance to look at Filip Kostic who made his debut from the bench.
He looked more than willing to get forward at every opportunity. One Juve player who did not impress was Weston McKennie whose decision-making in the final third left a lot to be desired and clearly frustrated Vlahovic.
He was taking up the role that Allegri would have liked to have Paul Pogba in but the Frenchman is injured.
Juventus will hope to build on the result away at Sampdoria next weekend whilst Sassuolo will try and bounce back away at Lecce.
