Juventus vs AS Roma: Preview, kick-off time and where to watch on TV and online – Serie A 2023/24

Undoubtedly the two most pragmatic coaches in Serie A, Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus and Jose Mourinho of AS Roma, will do battle on Saturday evening with both of their teams chasing Champions League qualification for 2024/25.

Juventus host AS Roma at the Allianz Stadium on Serie A Matchday 18 with the two most defensive tacticians in Italian football coming face to face.

Both Massimiliano Allegri and Jose Mourinho are coaches that prioritise results over style and they are firm believers in pragmatism. With both teams possessing Champions League ambitions, these two tacticians won’t leave anything to chance.

The Bianconeri are second in Serie A with 40 points, four behind league leaders Inter, and they defeated Frosinone 2-1 in the previous round. Meanwhile, the Giallorossi are sixth with 28 points, they are three points away from a Champions League spot, and they kept their hopes alive with a 2-0 win against Napoli.

In 2021/22, both coaches were involved in one of the best matches of that Serie A campaign with Juventus emerging as 4-3 winners in Rome. Will both coaches engage in tactical chess game that will suit them, or will cracks appear, giving the neutrals something to be excited about?

Juventus vs AS Roma: Predicted line-ups

Juventus will be missing Andrea Cambiaso due to suspension while Mattia De Sciglio is out injured. Federico Gatti, Manuel Locatelli, and Danilo are one yellow card away from serving bans.

Moise Kean, Alex Sandro, and Locatelli are doubts for the match, whereas Federico Chiesa should be fit to return after missing out on the Frosinone clash. Timothy Weah should start at right wing-back in place of Cambiaso, and Chiesa should reunite with Dusan Vlahovic in attack.

Meanwhile, AS Roma will miss Tammy Abraham and Marash Kumbulla with injuries while Paulo Dybala, Leonardo Spinazzola, and Chris Smalling are doubts for the game. Centre-back Gianluca Mancini is one yellow card from being suspended.

Although Dybala is unlikely to feature against the Bianconeri, another former Juve player Leandro Paredes should start in the Giallorossi midfield.

Juventus predicted XI vs AS Roma (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Weah, McKennie, Nicolussi Caviglia, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Chiesa.

AS Roma predicted XI vs Juventus (3-5-1-1): Rui Patricio; Mancini, Llorente, Ndicka; Kristensen, Cristante, Paredes, Bove, Zalewski; Pellegrini; Lukaku
