Serie A Femminile Matchday 10 saw another twist in a title race that is set to have many more moments of drama as the season progresses. It was AS Roma Women who were the big winners as they extended their lead at the top of the table over Juventus Women.
Having won the title in the previous five seasons, to have any sort of lead over the Binaconere after 10 games is a monumental achievement. To have a five-point lead, though, is amazing.
That is exactly what Roma have got with eight games of the regular season left before the split into two mini-leagues to see who will win the title and who will be relegated.

Can AS Roma handle being in charge?
There is no getting away from the fact that this is unchartered territory for AS Roma. The Giallorosse were not even considered a title contender last season until the latter part of the campaign when they put together an incredible run of form and finished five points behind Juventus.
That form just hasn’t stopped, though, and now Alessandro Spugna’s side are five points ahead of Juventus after 10 games of the 2022/23 season.
It was discussed that Roma may struggle to maintain their form whilst factoring in their first-ever UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign, but they have got seven points from their first three games in that tournament. They are totally unphased by everything so far, and that must be a worry for Juventus.
Their points this week came with another low-scoring but efficient victory, as has become the norm this season. With 19 goals, the league leaders are actually only the fourth-highest scorers in Serie A Femminile. They have conceded seven less than the next-best defence though with just three goals going against them.
The 2-0 win over Pomigliano saw goals from Annamaria Serturini and Valentina Giacinti, although Roma did ride their luck slightly more than usual against a Pomigliano side that can hurt anyone.
Juventus drop points again
The win that Juventus got over Roma earlier in the season is looking more and more important by the week. That is the only game Roma have dropped points in all season.
For Juve, they have lost one game too but recorded their third draw of the league campaign as they drew 1-1 with Como, another side putting up more of a fight this season than expected.
Julia Grosso gave Joe Montemurro’s side the lead but Como refused to lie down and after missing a penalty, it was Chiara Beccari, the 18-year-old Juventus loanee, who produced a moment of brilliance to make it 1-1 and they held on for an impressive point.
It seems that something is amiss at Juventus this season. The overall quality of the league has improved and it could be catching them slightly off-guard. Write them off at your peril though, there is a long way to go.
Big win for AC Milan and a point for Parma
The other matches saw AC Milan continue their extremely confusing and unpredictable form as they went to Fiorentina and won 6-1. It is the inconsistency that will stop Milan making any strides towards the top, but when they do perform, the Rossonere are impressive.
Parma were cruelly beaten in their first game under Domenico Panico but they managed to get a point against Inter. They surrendered another lead though, drawing 2-2 after being 2-0 up with half an hour to go at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Sassuolo continued their recovery in the fifth game as they won 2-0 in Liguria against Sampdoria. That makes it two wins from two for the Neroverde.
