Juventus transfer plans: New football director Cristiano Giuntoli planning huge summer clearout

With a need to raise funds, newly appointed sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is set to overhaul Juventus' squad and move unwanted players on, as well as cash in on star men.

After protracted talks, Juventus have finally secured the services of Cristiano Giuntoli as football director following his switch from Serie A champions Napoli, and he is ready to oversee a clearout of the Bianconeri’s squad.

As had been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Giuntoli has completed his move to the Allianz Stadium and has already begun work on overhauling the team available to coach Massimiliano Allegri, with current first-team regulars and loaned-out cast-offs all at risk of facing the chop.

Having missed out on Champions League qualification following their 10-point deduction after being found guilty of illegal salary manoeuvres, Juventus are keen to recoup as much as possible in transfer fees this summer to cover lost revenue, as they face a deficit of at least €120 million.

Premier League loanees being moved on

Juventus have made a positive start to the transfer window by offloading Sweden international Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham Hotspur, after an 18-month loan spell in the Premier League, and have secured €30m in addition to the €10m for the initial loan.

The Bianconeri are also looking to bring in a further €30m for midfielder Weston McKennie, but their hopes have been hampered by a significantly underwhelming six-month loan deal with Leeds United last season. Despite this, Galatasaray and Borussia Dortmund have registered an interest in the American.

Fellow midfielder Denis Zakaria was also sent out to the Premier League with Chelsea last term but only made seven appearances in the English top flight. However, West Ham United have opened up talks as Juventus seek €20m for him.

The Turin club are also determined to move Arthur on after a disastrous loan spell at Liverpool that saw the Brazilian suffer a serious thigh injury limited to just 13 minutes of football. The ex-Barcelona man has drawn interest from Spain and Turkey, as well as a return to his homeland, but links with Brighton have faded.

Top earners set for sale at right price

Juventus expect to cash in on full-back Luca Pellegrini following his loan spell with Lazio, at €10m, whilst Samuel Iling-Junior could be sold for €20m.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are keen to move some of their higher earners on, with Wojciech Szczesny and Leonardo Bonucci both on €12m per year, and Alex Sandro earning €11m.

Similarly, high-value assets are also being considered for sale, with striker Dusan Vlahovic available should an €80m offer arrive, and Federico Chiesa‘s price tag set at €60m. Despite only joining from Torino last summer, centre-back Bremer will also be sold for €50m should an offer be forthcoming.
