Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has spoken of his joy at the impact he has made for the club in their Champions League campaign, after netting in the 6-1 thrashing of Ajax on Tuesday evening.
The Partenopei were rampant at the Amsterdam ArenA, condemning their hosts to their worst defeat in any competition since 1964, and Georgia international Kvaratskhelia provided an assist in addition to scoring the fifth goal.
“I think dreams do come true because I’m playing in the Champions League and I scored today,” the summer arrival from Dinamo Batumi declared in an interview with Uefa.com.
“I’m very happy with that, but it was also important for the team to win.”
Kvaratskhelia has enjoyed a blistering start to the life at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, registering six goals in 11 appearances and helping Napoli go top of both the Serie A table and their Champions League group.

Di Lorenzo impresses as captain
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old winger was full of praise for full-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo as he wore the captain’s armband in Amsterdam, as well as getting on the scoresheet himself and earning the man of the match award.
“He is a great man, a great captain and a great footballer. He deserves the award because he is very important for Napoli,” Kvaratskhelia said of his Italian teammate.
Napoli are on the cusp of qualification from Group A after enjoying comprehensive wins over Liverpool and Rangers, in addition to their thrashing of Ajax.
