Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and will focus their efforts on swooping for him this summer. Whilst their primary target remains Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, the Partenopei star is being touted as an alternative.
According to Spanish news outlet La Cadena SER, the Georgia international’s sensational form in his debut season in Serie A has not gone unnoticed by Real Madrid, and will continue to monitor his form over the coming months with a view to a summer move.
Newcastle United challenge for Kvaratskhelia
Kvaratskhelia is also being tracked by high-flying Premier League club Newcastle United and the Magpies are ready to splash out on him, but Real Madrid remain confident that they would be the player’s preferred destination should he opt to leave Napoli.
Whilst Carlo Ancelotti‘s side remain determined to sign England international Bellingham, there is a fear within the Spanish capital that he would favour a move to the Premier League, amidst interest from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and even Chelsea.
Should Bellingham opt against a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid are ready to put almost all of their transfer budget towards prising Kvaratskhelia away from Napoli instead.
Why is Kvaratskhelia in demand?
Signed amidst little fanfare from Dinamo Batumi last summer, Kvaratskhelia has taken Serie A by storm and propelled Napoli to the cusp of their first Scudetto since 1990.
The 22-year-old has dazzled with an array of pace, close control, and intelligent wing play to provide an incredible return of nine goals and 11 assists from just 18 Serie A appearances, as well as two goals and three assists in five Champions League matches.
Kvaratskhelia has linked up to devastating effect with striker Victor Osimhen and his spectacular maiden season in Italy has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after stars.
