Inter will end Matchday 6 of the 2022/23 Serie A Femminile season at the top of the table after they humiliated cross-city rivals AC Milan. Rita Guarino’s Inter claimed a resounding 4-0 win over Maurizio Ganz’s Rossonere.
Inter came into the weekend’s action as Serie A Femminile leaders but had enjoyed a relatively favourable fixture list early on. They had, though, claimed an impressive point against champions Juventus as well.
AC Milan proved light work for Guarino and her Nerazzurre though, and Inter held nothing back from the very start.

Inter Women hammer AC Milan in Derby della Madonnina
Inter were clearly keen to send a real statement of intent from the off, but against a Milan side who had shown improvements in recent weeks it was thought that they might face their toughest challenge of the season so far. But that proved not to be the case.
The hosts wasted little time in taking the lead, and there was no surprise to see arguably the standout player in Serie A Femminile this season involved with an assist as Ghoutia Karchouni delivered a perfect corner for Stefanie van der Gragt to head home after climbing above everybody in a crowded box.
Tabitha Chawinga is perhaps the only other contender for Karchouni’s status as the most in-form player this season, and she doubled Inter’s lead with over half an hour played to get her sixth of the campaign. From there, it already looked like there was to be no way back for Milan.

Elisa Polli, not wanting to be left behind Chawinga in the goalscoring charts, scuffed in a third for Inter before half time and Milan went in at the break with their only real objective for the second half being damage limitation.
Chawinga terrorised the Rossonere some more after the restart though, teeing up Polli for her second of the afternoon and seventh of the season, seeing the no.9 overtake her provider with her seventh goal of the 2022/23 campaign.
AC Milan are in trouble again
The Rossonere had a bad start to the season but then looked to be rediscovering some form after welcoming Christy Grimshaw back from injury.
This loss to Inter is likely to hit them hard though, and Ganz now has his work cut out again if they are to recover. Milan face Juventus next.
