Napoli pulled further clear at the top of the Serie A table on Tuesday night as they kicked off the Matchday 14 action with a 2-0 win over Empoli, with the visitors having been reduced to 10 men in Campania.
The Tuscans put up a good fight against the early-season Serie A leaders but were eventually breached when Hirving Lozano converted a second-half penalty. Piotr Zielinski scored a fine second for Luciano Spalletti’s Partenopei.
Sebastiano Luperto was sent off for Empoli midway through the second half and with Napoli already ahead. From there, there was little doubt that Napoli would emerge victorious and Zielinski’s second was an expertly-dispatched volley that killed the game off as a contest late on.
