Parma have confirmed that their women’s team will play their home matches in Serie A Femminile at the Stadio Ennio Tardini in 2022/23.

The Crociate will compete in the top tier of Italian women’s football for the first time this coming season. Last season they had a team in the fourth tier, but having purchased Empoli’s place in Serie A Femminile they are hoping to generate as much interest as possible in the women’s team. Playing at the Tardini is one way they intend to aid the side’s growth, with the stadium located on a ring road that surrounds the city centre.

For the first time, Serie A Femminile will be a fully-professional league in 2022/23, which added to the Gialloblu’s desire to have a women’s team in the top tier as soon as possible.

The announcement follows weeks of speculation as to where the women’s team would play.

The intentions of the club has always been to give their women’s team the best chance of success, which was made clear by their sharing of the training facilities in Collecchio and their decision to have both sides spend pre-season at the same venue.

Parma follow Sampdoria’s lead as men’s and women’s teams share facilities

Parma Women’s first-team matches in the 2022/23 season will be played at the Stadio Ennio Tardini,” read a statement issued by the club on Thursday afternoon.

“As per president Kyle Krause’s wishes, the Crociate will play at the Tardini, their home.

“Football serves to unite without any discrimination, and that is why the club’s two first teams – the men’s and women’s – share the facilities.”

The statement continued to highlight that only Parma and Sampdoria have their men’s and women’s teams share facilities.

Samp, curiously, bought Florentia San Gimignano’s place in Serie A Femminile a year before Parma took over Empoli’s rights.
