Fiorentina easily beat RFS on Thursday afternoon 3-0 to bring their Europa Conference League group stage to a close.
La Viola enjoyed goals from Antonin Barak, Arthur Cabral and Riccardo Saponara in the first half.
Fiorentina’s match in Latvia kicked off at 17:30 local time in order to match up with that game between Istanbul Basaksehir and Hearts in Turkey where the time was 18:30.
Fiorentina were not dishevelled by the early kick-off though and they took the lead after just six minutes of play. Riccardo Saponara got down the left and chipped the ball across where Barak was waiting to power a header in at the near post.
The lead was doubled just before halftime through Brazilian forward Arthur Cabral. A corner came in from the right and it was headed on by Barak and Cabral was waiting to poke it into the back of the net.
Fiorentina weren’t done yet though as Saponara got one of his own and made it 3-0 at the break. It was the pick of the bunch as he picked up the ball around 20 yards out and fired a wonderful strike into the far top corner.
Due to Istanbul Basaksehir winning against 3-1 Hearts, they stayed top of the group and Fiorentina had to settle for second.
