RB Salzburg 0-1 Inter: Goals, highlights and report – Champions League 2023/24

Inter needed a late Lautaro Martinez penalty to take all three points from their trip to Salzburg, but the win did see them secure their place in the knockout rounds of the competition.

Inter made hard work of their Champions League Group D Matchday 4 game against RB Salzburg on Wednesday night, just about managing to snatch a 1-0 win through a late Lautaro Martinez penalty. The Argentine continued his fine form this season and once again proved decisive for the Nerazzurri.

Simone Inzaghi named a much-changed side against the Austrian outfit, and it seemingly showed from the off, with the 47-year-old’s side struggling to find the final action to make things click.

However, Inter broke the deadlock five minutes before the final whistle through substitute Lautaro from 12 yards.

The result sees Inter progress into the knockout phases of the Champions League. However, they must beat Real Sociedad on Matchday 5 if they are to finish the group as winners and earn, on paper at least, a favourable last-16 draw.
