Juventus might have made some signings over the summer that started to get their fans excited and dreaming of a push for the Serie A title, but Massimiliano Allegri saw his side played out a bore 0-0 draw with Sampdoria on Monday night.

With both Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria unavailable for selection through injury, Gleison Bremer and Filip Kostic were the two new faces named in the initial starting XI by Allegri, though only the former could have ended the night with anything to be pleased about as he kept a clean sheet.

Juventus had the ball in Sampdoria’s net, but…

The game at Marassi was immediately forgettable, and one that Allegri’s doubters and critics will no doubt use as a stick to beat the Juventus coach with for the remainder of the 2022/23 Serie A season.

Juventus were off stride and Sampdoria never really showed any ambition of their own to take advantage, despite the Old Lady’s list of absentees including Pogba, Di Maria, Federico Chiesa, Leonardo Bonucci (on the bench), Wojciech Szczesny, Kaio Jorge and Arthur Melo.

Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot had the ball in the net shortly after the hour mark, having been teed up by Dusan Vlahovic after former Juventus man Tomas Rincon had the ball stolen from him rather easily. Their joy was short lived though as the goal was chalked off shortly after as Vlahovic had been offside in the build-up.

Juventus now sit on four points from their two games so far, whereas Samp claimed their first point of the season with the draw.
