Juventus‘ first loss of the 2023/24 Serie A season was delivered to the Bianconeri on the road at Sassuolo on Matchday 5, with the Neroverdi first going 1-0 and 2-1 ahead, being pegged back both times, before going on to claim a memorable 4-2 win.
Armand Lauriente opened the scoring with help from Wojciech Szczesny as the Polish goalkeeper palmed a long-range strike through his own legs and into his net, but Matias Vina turned a Federico Chiesa cross into his own goal to restore parity. A fine Domenico Berardi strike put Sassuolo in front again before Chiesa fired in Juventus‘ second late on, only for Andrea Pinamonti and a bizarre Federico Gatti own goal to see the points stay in Emilia Romagna.
Sassuolo now sit on six points from their five games so far, sitting in mid-table. Juventus, meanwhile, have again been leapfrogged by AC Milan in the Serie A table and fallen down from second, losing ground on Inter.
