Serie A 22/23 – Matchday 1 Team of the Week
Mattia Perin – Juventus
Deputising for Wojciech Szczesny, the former Genoa goalkeeper was alert against Sassuolo and he made a few quality saves.
Davide Calabria – AC Milan
It was an impressive performance from the Rossoneri captain, who won nine duels in the match against Udinese and supplied a cross for one of Ante Rebic’s goals.
Milan Skriniar – Inter
The Slovakian defender displayed his reliability in defence, making 13 recoveries against Lecce. He was also impressive in his distribution, completing 91 passes.

Rafael Toloi – Atalanta
Scored the opening goal of the match against Sampdoria and found ways to venture forward whenever possible.
Cristiano Biraghi – Fiorentina
While Gigliati coach Vincenzo Italiano unsuccessfully experimented with Marco Benassi as a right-back, at least he could turn to his captain for an assured performance on the left flank. Biraghi completed 89 passes for the game and created eight chances, ranking first in both categories against Cremonese.
Angel Di Maria – Juventus
Despite his 34 years of age, the versatile Argentinian was quick to show his world-class ability and his valuable experience. Scored the opening goal for the Bianconeri against Sassuolo and he supplied an assist for Dusan Vlahovic before coming off the pitch injured.
Bryan Cristante – Roma
The Italian international produced a fine performance in midfield, scoring the only goal of the game with a low strike and he was ranked first for duels won against Salernitana with 10.
Kvicha Kvaratskhelia – Napoli
Brought in to fill the void left by former Partenopei captain Lorenzo Insigne, the Georgian starlet was superb on his Serie A debut for the Neapolitans. He scored the equaliser with a header and then he provided an assist for Piotr Zielinski.

Dusan Vlahovic – Juventus
If Angel Di Maria was the one that got the ball rolling, then Vlahovic was the one who put the icing on the cake. The Argentine opened the scoring for the Bianconeri while the Serbian international grabbed a brace, scoring a penalty near the end of the first half and then he found the back of the net in open play early in the second half.
Victor Osimhen – Napoli
The Nigerian led the line admirably for the Partenopei against Hellas Verona. He gave Napoli the lead just before half-time and he supplied the assist for Matteo Politano to seal the win for the southern Italians.
Ante Rebic – AC Milan
Although he started as the long striker instead of his preferred role on the left-wing, the Croatian forward produced a great performance for the Rossoneri against Udinese, scoring twice.
