Serie A 2022/23: Team of the Week – Matchday 28

There's a lot of AC Milan representation in our Serie A Team of the Week after their huge win at Napoli, with six other sides also having players in our Matchday 28 XI.

Napoli had their lead cut at the top of the Serie A table after they were humiliated 4-0 by AC Milan while Lazio remain a distant second after winning 2-0 against Monza. As a result, AC Milan are well represented in our Serie A Team of the Week for Matchday 28.

Inter suffered a 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina, AS Roma smashed Sampdoria 3-0, and Juventus defeated Hellas Verona by a solitary goal. Elsewhere, Atalanta won 3-1 against Cremonese, Bologna thumped Udinese 3-0, and Empoli beat Lecce 1-0.

Serie A 22/23 – Matchday 28 Team of the Week

Mike Maignan – AC Milan

Although he had a defence in front of him that was thwarting many Napoli attacks, he was still attentive whenever it was necessary.

Stefan Posch – Bologna

The Austria international opened the scoring against Udinese with a shot from long range and he also made a goal-line clearance.

Federico Gatti – Juventus

Made 10 recoveries against Hellas Verona, and he completed the most passes for the match with 76.

Jose Luis Palomino – Atalanta

Completed 80% of his passes against Cremonese and made 10 recoveries.

Fabrizio Parisi – Empoli

Won the most duels in the match against Lecce with 10 and he also made 11 recoveries.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – Lazio

Achieved a successful passing completion rate of 84%, won eight duels, and scored the second goal against Monza.

Georginio Wijnaldum – AS Roma

Played a crucial part in the victory against Sampdoria, scoring the opening goal and earning the penalty that allowed Paulo Dybala to score the second.

Giacomo Bonaventura – Fiorentina

The former AC Milan midfielder played a starring role against his former rivals, completing 83% of his passes against Inter and scored the only goal of the game.

Brahim Diaz – AC Milan

Supplied the through-ball that allowed Rafael Leao to open the scoring and he then scored the second Rossoneri goal.

Musa Barrow – Bologna

Assisted the first two goals and then scored the third for the Felsinei in their emphatic victory against Udinese.

Rafael Leao – AC Milan

The Portugal international returned to form and produced a mesmerising performance against Napoli. Found the back of the net with two lovely goals and was involved in the build-up for the second Rossoneri goal.
