Serie A 2022/23: Team of the Week – Matchday 34

There were some huge results at both ends of the Serie A table on Matchday 34, and as many as seven sides are represented in our Serie A Team of the Week.

With Napoli being crowned Serie A champions, the focus on Matchday 34 was on some fixtures that might prove to be decisive in the battle for European spots.

Juventus won 2-0 against Atalanta to leap up to second, AC Milan defeated Lazio 2-0, and Inter also earned a 2-0 victory against AS Roma.

Elsewhere, Cremonese beat Spezia 2-0, Empoli won 2-1 against Salernitana, Hellas Verona earned a 1-0 victory against Lecce, and Udinese beat Sampdoria 2-0, which confirms the Blucerchiati’s relegation to Serie B.

AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer scores. [@acmilan]

Marco Carnesecchi – Cremonese

Kept a clean sheet in the victory against Spezia, giving the Grigiorossi some hope of surviving relegation.

Tyronne Ebuehi – Empoli

The Nigerian right-back provided assists for both Nicolo Cambiaghi and Francesco Caputo in the victory against Salernitana.

Johan Vasquez – Cremonese

Reliable in defence and scored one of the goals in the win against Spezia.

Isak Hien – Hellas Verona

Played a part in his team keeping a clean sheet against Lecce. Won seven aerial duels and made seven clearances.

Theo Hernandez – AC Milan

It was another superb performance on the left flank from the French full-back against Lazio and he scored with an amazing solo effort.

Roberto Pereyra – Udinese

Provided an attacking threat from midfield and he opened the scoring against Sampdoria.

Ismael Bennacer – AC Milan

Completed 88% of his passes and scored the first goal in the victory against Lazio.

Federico Dimarco – Inter

The Italian wing-back was a potent threat on the left side for the Nerazzurri and he opened the scoring against AS Roma.

Francesco Caputo – Empoli

Was not overly active but he was dangerous when he got into the right positions and scored the second goal in the Azzurri’s win against Salernitana.

Romelu Lukaku – Inter

Scored the second goal against AS Roma, taking his tally to three goals in his last three Serie A games.

Samuel Iling-Junior – Juventus

The English starlet started for the first time in Serie A and he produced a fine performance on the left wing against Atalanta. He also initiated the move for the first goal before putting the ball into the net. His performance saw him named our Serie A Player of the Week for Matchday 34.
