Serie A 2022/23: Team of the Week – Matchday 36

Serie A Matchday 36 came to an end on Monday evening, and as many as seven teams are represented in our Team of the Week.

Serie A champions Napoli earned another win after defeating Inter 3-1 while Lazio sealed a Champions League spot with a 1-0 win against Udinese on Matchday 36.

After receiving news that they had been given a 10-point penalty, Juventus were smashed 4-1 by Empoli while AC Milan and Bologna earned 5-1 victories against Sampdoria and Cremonese respectively. The Grigiorossi join the Blucerchiati in Serie B.

Elsewhere, Atalanta beat Hellas Verona 3-1 and Monza won 2-1 against Sassuolo.

Guglielmo Vicario – Empoli

Did not have to make a lot of saves but he was alert when called upon in the shock victory against Juventus.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo – Napoli

The Partenopei captain put in another effective performance on the right flank and he regained the lead for his team with a strike from his non-preferred foot.

Sebastiano Luperto – Empoli

Made 10 clearances, four interceptions, and scored in the comprehensive win against Juventus.

Alessio Romagnoli – Lazio

Performed with assurance in the victory against Udinese. Made four clearances, three interceptions, and completed 78 out of 81 passes.

Davide Zappacosta – Atalanta

It was another fine performance on the left flank for the former Torino and Chelsea defender, who scored his third goal in five Serie A matches.

Patrick Ciurria – Monza

Posed a great attacking threat from the right wing in the victory against Sassuolo. Scored the equaliser and came close to scoring another one.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa – Napoli

He was involved in the first two Partenopei goals, scoring the opener and then assisting for Di Lorenzo.

Brahim Diaz – AC Milan

Demonstrated his quality on the ball and ability to create against Sampdoria. He found the back of the net once and provided two assists.

Francesco Caputo – Empoli

After leaving Sampdoria in January, the veteran forward has slowly rediscovered his scoring touch, and he scored twice against Juventus.

Olivier Giroud – AC Milan

Rediscovered his scoring touch against Sampdoria, scoring a hat-trick against the Blucerchiati.

Musa Barrow – Bologna

Played an influential role in the emphatic victory against Cremonese, supplying two assists.
