Hat-trick hero Paulo Dybala won a close-fought encounter against Torino for AS Roma and was named the 2023/24 Serie A Player of the Week for Matchday 26.

The 2022 World Cup winner was in fine form at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday night, with his last goal for the Giallorossi sealing a 3-2 victory over the Granata, and a vital three points in their Champions League qualification hopes.

Penalty king Dybala strikes again for Roma

Despite having captain Lorenzo Pellegrini in attendance, it was Dybala who stepped up to the spot just before half-time when Sardar Azmoun was fouled just inside the Torino box, and for good reason.

The 30-year-old confidently sent goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic the wrong way to net his 38th career penalty and 13th consecutive successful conversion for the Romans, but within minutes Duvan Zapata equalised for the visitors with a well-placed header.

Paulo Dybala tops Serie A goal involvement charts

On 57 minutes, the former Juventus attacker curled home a wonderful left-footed shot from the edge of the box to give Roma the lead once more and then exchanged passes with Romelu Lukaku, burst into the box and fired home a low shot for his hat-trick.

It meant that Dybala had reached 17 goal involvements for the season – 11 goals and six assists – and been involved in 15 goals or more in eight different Serie A campaigns since 2014/15, equal only to Lazio striker Ciro Immobile during that period.
