Serie A Matchday 21 has only seen six of its 10 games played, due to the interference of the Supercoppa Italiana, but there was plenty that happened over the weekend that warrants discussion, and not always for positive reasons. To chat through it all, the Total Italian Football Podcast is here.
The big story of the weekend was yet another example of racist abuse, this time aimed at AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan from Udinese supporters. On the pitch, Milan won 3-2 dramatically.
Juventus moved temporarily top of the Serie A table with their comfortable win away at Lecce on Sunday night, though Inter won’t catch up for another couple of weeks due to their involvement in the Supercoppa.
The Supercoppa was also discussed, as were its effects on this unusually scheduled Matchday 21.
Elsewhere, AS Roma beat Hellas Verona 2-1 on Daniele De Rossi‘s debut on their bench, Frosinone beat Cagliari 3-1, Empoli hammered Monza 3-0, and Genoa won 2-1 at Salernitana.
