The brand new 2023/24 Serie A Femminile season is upon us and it is fair to say that there has been plenty of drama leading up to the opening weekend which features a couple of fascinating games.
With so many transfers taking place over the summer, it is extremely hard to judge who will be making strides and who will be regressing, but the first weekend of action should give us some very useful clues.
Champions AS Roma and Coppa Italia holders Juventus are expected to remain as the two primary title challengers, but there is reason to believe that AC Milan and Inter will be able to mount something of a charge after a positive summer on the whole for both.
The biggest fixture of the opening matchday certainly sees AC Milan vs Roma on Sunday afternoon, but there is potential for Fiorentina vs Sassuolo on Saturday to be very interesting too, with both teams hoping to secure top-half finishes this season.
Where to watch Serie A Femminile?
This is a bone of contention right now because the first five Serie A Femminile matchdays are not going to be televised in Italy as they did not manage to find a rights agreement before the deadline. That deadline has now been extended all the way to October 31.
For the time being, the FIGC is going to stream games on its website that are not already being shown free-to-air. That means four matches each weekend will be online, with one being free-to-air.
Clubs often show their own games live on their respective websites and media channels as well, so those are always worth checking out. Inter TV and Juventus’ JTV are two of the more reliable places to find games.
This season, the one free-to-air game each week is going to be broadcast on Rai Play, rather than La7.
