Serie A Femminile 2023/24: Player of the Week – Matchday 7

Nobody dominated quite like Arianna Caruso in Serie A Femminile over the weekend. The Juventus midfielder assisted their opener and then scored a stunning second as the Bianconere picked up three important points at Como to be named Player of the Week.

Arianna Caruso shone brighter than anybody on Matchday 7 of the 2023/24 Serie A Femminile, scoring and assisting as Juventus Women beat Como 3-0 in Seregno. Her performance earned her our Player of the Week prize for the latest round of fixtures.

Of course, Caruso also earned a place in our Serie A Femminile Team of the Week as well.

Following their Matchday 6 loss at home to champions and title-race rivals AS Roma, Juventus‘ trip to take on a tricky Como Women side could have been a real banana skin for the Bianconere. Largely led by Caruso, though, they returned home to Turin with three important points bagged.

Carugol hits 50 for Juventus Women

Sunday was a day of milestones for Juventus Women, with their opening goal from Cecilia Salvai being their 600th in all competitions since their debut in the 2017/18 season. It was rather fitting that the centre-back headed in a Caruso cross, given the importance both hold and have held at the club for a number of years.

Caruso was at the centre of everything Juventus looked to do, and she hit her own personal milestone in the second half when she picked up the ball not far from her own box, drove the length of the pitch in possession, and smashed in a stunning second for the Bianconere from 25 yards. The goal was her 50th for the club, and she hit her half-century in real style.

Playing in a slightly new role this season under Joe Montemurro, Caruso will likely score fewer goals this year than before. She has already stated her happiness playing a little deeper alongside Julia Grosso though, explaining after her late winner away at AC Milan that she’s happy to get on the ball more and “if I can score the occasional goal too, then all the better”.

When Juventus need her, Caruso tends to step up and deliver, and at just 24 years of age, there is every chance that another 50 Caru goals will come.
