The 2023/24 Serie A Femminile season returned after its first international break with Matchday 2, and it was a weekend on which the two title favourites – champions AS Roma Women and contenders Juventus Women – each claimed big wins and both scored four goals in the process. The Giallorosse and Bianconere are well represented in our Serie A Femminile Team of the Week.

Juventus debuted in their new home of the Stadio Pozzo-La Marmora in Biella and sent Sampdoria packing with a comprehensive 4-1 win, with Cristiana Girelli, Lineth Beerensteyn and Sara Gama all impressing. Girelli‘s performance earned her our Serie A Femminile Player of the Week prize.

Elsewhere, AC Milan needed late heroics from Emelyne Laurent to see off newly-promoted Napoli Femminile in Campania, with the ex-Bayern Munich forward scoring a 96th-minute winner after a fine defensive showing from the Azzurre. The hosts were only let down by a wasteful attack when they carved out big chances.

Inter and Fiorentina occupy third and fourth as they drew 1-1 in Milan, with former Juventus midfielder Sofie Junge Pedersen levelling for the Nerazzurre after La Viola had gone ahead. Sassuolo came back to draw 1-1 against Pomigliano in the weekend’s other fixture.
