Serie A Femminile 2023/24: Team of the Week – Matchday 9

Inter's derby win over AC Milan and AS Roma's win at home to Fiorentina were the standout results of the Serie A Femminile weekend, but there were a number of impressive individual performances. We're named our Team of the Week for Matchday 9.

Serie A Femminile Matchday 9 took us into the November/December international break, and also brought an end to the first round of fixtures of the 2023/24 season, with each of the top-flight sides having now played one another once.

The weekend was filled with some big fixtures as well, most notably the Derby della Madonnina which saw Michela Cambiaghi score the only goal as Inter beat AC Milan 1-0, and champions AS Roma hosted third-place Fiorentina at the Stadio Tre Fontane in a big test after a midweek Women’s Champions League win over Ajax. The Giallorosse stepped up, with Giada Greggi and Benedetta Glionna scoring fine goals to secure a 2-1 win, and each booking their places in the Serie A Femminile Team of the Week alongside Cambiaghi.

Juventus surprisingly went behind away at Napoli Femminile and needed Arianna Caruso to single-handedly drag them back into life, with the midfielder scoring twice in their 3-1 comeback win, naturally sealing her return to the Team of the Week, where she has become a regular this season. Caruso‘s good showing was made all the more important after Julia Grosso went off injured in the opening eight minutes of the game with what looked to be a sprained ankle.

Elsewhere, Loreta Kullashi scored three and assisted the other as Sassuolo beat Sampdoria 4-0, and Como Women and Pomigliano played out a goalless draw in Seregno.
