The 2022/23 Serie A Femminile season is over, or at least another phase of it is. All that remains now are the relegation playoffs and the Coppa Italia final, with the rest of the action having come to its conclusion over the weekend.
Sampdoria guaranteed their survival despite having been dead and buried just a number of weeks earlier, beating Pomigliano 4-2 in Campania after having beaten Parma a week earlier in what were – to all intents and purposes – two relegation playoff games for the Blucechiate. Their win over Parma sent the Gialloblu down to Serie B, and their defeat of Pomigliano ensured that it would be the Pantere, and not Samp, to face a playoff with Serie B’s second-placed side, Lazio, for a place in next season’s top flight.
Elsewhere, there was still plenty to discuss even though there was little else on the line. Juventus thumped champions AS Roma 5-2 in Piemonte to send a message ahead of their Coppa Italia final meeting on June 4. AC Milan edged Inter 1-0 in the Derby della Madonnina, and Lana Clelland continued her phenomenal scoring streak as Sassuolo beat Como 2-1.
