How did the Matchday 12 action impact on Serie A?

-

Serie A Matchday 12 delivered a lot more drama than expected with a couple of surprising results and some truly magnificent goals being scored. The headline result has been Torino’s 2-1 victory over AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.

In the absence of a Friday night game, Napoli got us underway on Saturday afternoon with a commanding 4-0 win over Sassuolo to continue their dominance at the top of the table. Victor Osimhen starred in that one, scoring a hat-trick.

That was followed by Nicolo Fagioli’s superb goal securing Juventus a 1-0 victory in Salento against Lecce. The evening was rounded off with another good win for Inter as they beat Sampdoria 3-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, where Nicolo Barella played a starring role.

On Sunday, Atalanta won again away at Empoli, Cremonese and Udinese played out a 0-0 draw, and Fiorentina won 2-1 with a late goal in La Spezia.

There was also huge drama in Rome as Lazio were beaten 3-1 by Salernitana. The drama continued in Turin as champions AC Milan were beaten by the Granata after putting in a hapless display.

AS Roma came from behind to beat Verona on Monday.
