Serie A points record: Which team has finished a Serie A season with the most points?

Only one team has broken the 100-point barrier in Serie A history, but the number of points required to challenge for the title has rapidly increased in recent years.

In recent seasons, Serie A has emerged as one of the most competitive leagues in Europe after four different champions in as many years, and it has led to a higher benchmark of points required to claim the scudetto.

Even during the dominance of Juventus over the past decade, the Bianconeri were required to reach unprecedented heights to hold off competition from rivals, and all but one of the top 10 highest points totals were achieved since 2013.

Juventus currently hold the Serie A record for most points accumulated in a single season, with Antonio Conte guiding the Turin club to an incredible 102 points en route to a third consecutive title.

Juventus break 100-point barrier

Despite AS Roma pushing Conte‘s team hard at the start of the campaign, including a run of 10 consecutive wins from their opening games with only a single goal conceded, Juventus sealed the title with a 17-point gap to the Giallorossi and are the only side to reach triple figures.

That dominant season saw La Vecchia Signora break the 97-point record held by Roberto Mancini‘s Inter of 2007, with the Nerazzurri only falling to a single defeat across the whole campaign.

The third-highest total was also earned by Juventus as they snatched the title in 2018 with 95 points, in the same season that Napoli earned a club-record 91 points but could only finish second in heart-breaking fashion.

That tally matched Juventus‘ total from the previous season under Massimiliano Allegri, with the former AC Milan tactician winning the title in 2019 and 2015 with 90 and 87 points respectively.

Napoli finally got their hands on a Serie A title that had eluded them for 33 years this season, as Luciano Spalletti led the Partenopei to a dominant triumph on 90 points.

Finally, in iconic captain Francesco Totti‘s final match of an illustrious career, Roma secured second place on 87 points in 2017, whilst Juventus also reached that tally to win the scudetto under Conte in 2013.
