Serie A Matchday 23 was always going to be a big one, with the weekend’s results likely to have serious consequences in the 2023/24 title race, the Champions League chase, and even the fight for survival at the bottom of the Serie A table.

Lecce kicked the weekend off in style on Friday with goals in the 90th and 92nd minutes allowing them to come from behind to beat Fiorentina 3-2 in Salento.

Saturday’s action was mixed, with Empoli vs Genoa and Udinese vs Monza both ending goalless. AC Milan then won 3-2 away at Frosinone but not without difficulty, before Bologna beat Sassuolo 4-2.

Sunday was a big day in the title race and the Champions League chase, with Inter taking control of the former with a 1-0 Derby d’Italia win over Juventus.

Atalanta solidified themselves in fourth with a 3-1 win at home to Lazio, before AS Roma beat Cagliari 4-0. Napoli came from behind to beat Hellas Verona 2-1.

There were three goalless draws in Empoli vs Genoa, Udinese vs Monza and Torino vs Salernitana.
