Serie A Matchday 28 threw up yet more surprise results and changes to the Serie A table, and things started to really hot up at the bottom as just seven points separate 13th-19th. At the top, though, Inter extended their lead to 16 points.

The champions-elect won 1-0 away to Bologna, while AC Milan moved above Juventus and into second with a 1-0 win over Empoli. The Bianconeri drew 2-2 at home to Atalanta.

There was drama in Salento where Lecce coach Roberto D’Aversa lost his head and subsequently his job after he headbutted Hellas Verona forward Thomas Henry on the pitch after the Gialloblu had picked up an important 1-0 win. The club swiftly dismissed him for his behaviour.

Sassuolo claimed a vital 1-0 win over Frosinone but stayed second-from-bottom in the table, though they are just four points off Udinese in 13th after the Zebrette’s 2-1 win at Lazio.

Elsewhere, Cagliari beat Serie B-bound Salernitana 4-2, Monza won 3-2 at GenoaNapoli and Torino drew 1-1, and Fiorentina drew 2-2 with AS Roma.
