Matchday 5 once again threw up a number of surprise Serie A results, as has so often been the case this season, and the biggest of those came on Saturday with Juventus falling to a 4-2 defeat away at Sassuolo, despite having come from behind to be level twice on the evening. Lazio then dropped points again by drawing at home to Monza later that night.

Earlier in the afternoon, AC Milan claimed a narrow 1-0 win over a stubborn Hellas Verona side, while Lecce‘s good early-season form continued with a 1-0 win over Genoa on Friday. Salernitana and Frosinone drew 1-1 in the first Serie A fixture of Matchday 5.

Even without too many goals, there were plenty of talking points in Serie A Matchday 5. AS Roma slipped up again, being held 1-1 away at Torino.

Elsewhere, Inter won 1-0 at Empoli, Atalanta beat Cagliari 2-0 and Fiorentina beat Udinese by that same scoreline. Napoli slipped up as well, drawing at Bologna.
